Fall Leaf Netting

When do you install fall leaf netting?

We complete fall net installations between mid-September and early October. This installation window is intentionally scheduled prior to peak leaf drop to maximize effectiveness. Early installation significantly reduces organic debris accumulation, helping to protect water quality and minimize spring cleanout demands.

Due to seasonal demand, scheduling within this timeframe is strongly recommended.

Does the netting stay on all winter?

No. Fall netting is a seasonal debris management solution and is not designed to remain in place through winter snowfall.

Nets should be removed prior to snow accumulation to prevent excessive weight load, structural collapse, potential fish suffocation, and damage to the pond or surrounding landscape.

As part of our Deluxe Fall Leaf Netting service, we offer a professional net removal and disposal service, typically completed around Thanksgiving. Clients enrolled in Standard Fall Leaf Netting services are responsible for timely removal prior to snowfall.

Can you install leaf netting my pond at the same time as the winterization?

No. Due to the concentrated scheduling demands of winterization season, net installation cannot be performed at the same appointment.

By the time winterization occurs, leaf drop is often already underway, reducing the effectiveness of netting if installed too late in the season. For optimal results, fall netting must be scheduled separately during the designated installation window.

Do you clean the leaves off the netting through the fall?

Unless previously arranged, routine clearing of leaf accumulation from the net is the responsibility of the pond owner.

Leaves should be removed weekly, or more frequently during periods of heavy leaf drop, to maintain structural integrity and ensure proper performance. Excessive accumulation may cause sagging and reduce the overall effectiveness of the installation.

Maintenance service visits can be arranged in advance for clients who prefer ongoing professional management.

How is the netting supported to keep it from falling into the pond?

All netting systems are professionally installed in a tented configuration to promote natural leaf shedding and prevent significant debris buildup.

For larger ponds or properties with heavy leaf exposure, we may install center support poles or additional structural reinforcement to maintain proper pitch and prevent sagging. Installation methods are determined based on pond size, layout, and surrounding tree coverage to ensure reliable seasonal protection.
